faq

Are you insured?

Absolutely! We carry up to $10 million in public liability insurance. So, if anything goes wrong on-site, you're covered. We take our work seriously and want you to feel confident and protected. We are also insured under Work Safe Victoria.

Do you provide work guarantees?

Yes, we back our work with a 10-year workmanship warranty and use Dulux products, which come with a 15-year product warranty. Your roof is in good hands.

What is a full roof restoration?

A full roof restoration is like giving your roof a complete makeover, leaving it looking and performing like new. Here’s how it works:

1. We high-pressure clean your roof.

2. Old bedding is removed and replaced where needed.

3. Flexible pointing is applied.

4. We replace broken or cracked tiles.

5. We clean out all debris and apply prep treatment if required.

6. Finally, we apply a primer or sealer, followed by two coats of Dulux Acratex roof membrane.

How long does a roof restoration take?

Typically, a roof restoration takes 2-4 days. However, factors like weather, job complexity, or other delays can impact this timeframe. We’ll always keep you updated!

What types of roofs do you restore?

We restore a range of roof types, including terracotta, corrugated iron, Colorbond, and concrete. Whatever your roof, we’ve got you covered.

How do I know if I need a new roof?

Look out for these signs that your roof might need replacing:

  • Missing, cracked, or curling shingles.

  • Blistering or peeling paint.

  • Leaks in the attic after heavy rain.

  • Stains on interior walls or ceilings.

  • High energy bills from poor insulation.

How much does a roof restoration cost?

Every roof is different in size, shape, and condition, so we need to inspect it first to give an accurate quote. The good news? We don’t use commission- based sales reps, so you’ll typically save between $1,500 - $4,000 compared to the big roofing companies. We’re not the cheapest, but we’re the pros those big guys hire—now you get to deal with us directly and save big. Pricing varies by roof area, access, and repair scope, but for Melbourne homes a roof restoration typically falls between $5,000 and $8,000 if its done by professionals.

What are safety rails?

Before starting any roof work, we install safety rails around your property to protect our workers. If safety rails can’t be used, we’ll switch to a harness system to ensure everyone stays safe.

What is a Dulux Accredited Applicator?

A Dulux Accredited Applicator is a contractor that Dulux has vetted, trained, and approved to install the Dulux AcraTex roofing system to manufacturer specifications.

Accreditation typically means:

• Proven trade quality and consistent workmanship

• Correct surface prep and system build (wash, repairs/re-bed/repoint, priming, membrane coats) to spec

• Use of genuine Dulux AcraTex products and documented application procedures

• Appropriate insurance, safety practices, and periodic quality checks

• Eligibility to register manufacturer-backed warranties (e.g., up to 15 years on the Dulux AcraTex Roof Membrane when applied per specification and conditions)

Why it matters: You get a system that’s installed the way Dulux designed it, with accountability, product authenticity, and warranty support—not just a “paint job.”

TVR advantage: True Value Roofing is one of a small number of Dulux Accredited Applicators in Victoria. That means your roof restoration is delivered to Dulux standards and can be registered for the Dulux product warranty (subject to Dulux terms and site conditions), alongside our own workmanship guarantee.

Why do you use Dulux Roofing Membrane over other brands?

We’ve tried almost every membrane on the market—cheap to premium—and Dulux Acratex simply outperforms the rest. It gives better adhesion, film build, and gloss/colour retention thanks to HueTech® technology, and comes with a 15-year Dulux-backed warranty when applied to spec by an Accredited Applicator (that’s us).

Unlike smaller or budget brands that come and go—leaving their warranties worthless—Dulux has been around since 1931 (over 90 years globally and more than a century in Australia). With Dulux, you’re backed by a trusted brand that isn’t going anywhere.

Bottom line: with a roof, it pays to do it once, do it properly, and not think about it again for the next 10–15 years. Dulux gives you that peace of mind.

What’s the difference between you and the cheaper or more expensive companies?

We aim for best value—not the rock-bottom option, and not the bloated “premium” either. In plain English:

• Fair price, no fluff: We’re usually 30–40% less than the big sales-heavy brands (no door-knockers, TV ads or commissions). You’re paying for the work, not the overheads.

• No corner-cutting: We don’t do one-coat shortcuts. It’s the full system—wash, repairs/re-bed & re-point, prime, then Dulux Acratex to spec.

• Backed properly: We’re Dulux Accredited Applicators, so you get the Dulux product warranty (up to 15 years) plus our 10-year workmanship warranty.

• One team, start to finish: No “subbie roulette.” The same experienced crew does your job and keeps you updated.

• Clear and transparent: Written scope, fair pricing, progress photos, daily updates—no surprises.

• $0.00 Deposit upfront – Pay when you are happy (Simple)

Bottom line: Cheap jobs cut steps; “premium” jobs often charge for overheads. TVR gives you a premium-grade restoration at a fair price—done once, done right, and properly warranted.

I’ve got a much cheaper quote saying they’ll do the same steps and give a 10-year warranty. Why not just go with them?

Be careful with the cheap cowboys. Anyone can say “same steps” and throw in a “10-year or 100-year warranty,” but if the prep isn’t done properly (deep wash, repairs, full re-bed/re-point, primer, then membrane to spec), the coating can peel within months—and the bloke who sprayed it, is suddenly nowhere to be found. Most weeks we’re called in to fix exactly that: fresh-looking roofs that failed within months because corners were cut.

A warranty only matters if:

it’s in writing (clear terms, what’s covered, how to claim), and it’s backed by someone who’ll still be around.

We’re Dulux Accredited Applicators. That means proper system application and access to a Dulux Acratex product warranty (up to 15 years), plus our 10-year workmanship warranty—both documented. Dulux isn’t going anywhere; a pop-up “cheap” outfit might be gone as soon as you pay them.

How to protect yourself (even if you don’t choose us):

Get the full scope in writing: wash, repairs, re-bed/re-point, primer, number of membrane coats.

Insist on the brand/system (e.g., Dulux Acratex) and application to spec.

Ask for the warranty document, not just a promise.

Check ABN, insurances, and manufacturer accreditation, reviews (even these can be faked by cowboys these days), go see other roofs they have done and knock on the door!

Avoid “pay it all up front.” Staged payments + progress photos = accountability.

Bottom line: Roofing is skilled trade work. Cheap isn’t cheap if you pay twice. With TVR you get a fair price, the job done right, and warranties that actually mean something.

Extremely happy

My wife and I are extremely happy with the completed restoration work. They were always on time and very respectful of our property. They even cleaned up our neighbours side of the house as some dirt had gone their during the clean. Both our neighbors came and complimented the roof. We would highly recommend them.
